The Sutra of Buddha.  

The word for a Buddhist scripture, the teachings of the Buddha, is sutta in Pali and sutra in Sanskrit. The sutras delivered during his lifetime and preserved in a continuous oral stream for the last twenty five hundred years. For more than five hundred years the texts were transmitted orally. They were first written down on palm leaves in Sri Lanka in the first century BCE.

Kinh Phật

Những từ ghi lại lời dạy cuả  Phật gọi là Kinh. Kinh tiếng Pali đọc là sutta, Kinh tiếng Sanskrit đọc là sutra. Kinh được lưu truyền trong suốt thời gian Phật tại thế và được giữ gìn truyền bá trong hơn 2500 năm. Trong hơn năm trăm năm  đầu các bài Kinh được truyền miệng. Kinh Phật lần đầu tiên được ghi lại trên lá cọ ở Sri Lanka vào thế kỷ thứ nhất TCN.
